Lawyers help Pingnan with legal issues

The female lawyer committee of the Fujian Lawyer’s Association brought together 10 female lawyers for the 27th Lawyer’s Day in Pingnan recently.

The secretary of the association, Liu Ruilan, said that there are more than 6,800 lawyers in the whole of Fujian province, but they are mainly based in developed areas like Fuzhou, Xiamen and Quanzhou. In 1983, Pingnan founded a State-run law firm, but it was closed in 2003 because of deficiency of staff, making the county the only one without a law firm in the entire province.

In accordance with advice from the Ministry of Justice, the association will provide legal services and funds to help establish branches of law firms in counties lacking lawyers. No membership fees will be charged in the first three years. It will also help train and guide lawyers in those areas, thus enabling people to enjoy decent legal service.
