Pingnan passes test to become eco-county

Pingnan county, Fujian province has recently passed a preliminary inspection for provincial ecological county status.

The average altitude of Pingnan is 830 meters above sea level. Its forest coverage is 76.4 percent and green plants coverage is 92.2 percent. It strongly promotes eco protection and river regulation and works to control pollution and stop soil erosion. The drinking water there is 100 percent clean and safe.

To grow gradually and in a green way, Pingnan focuses on eco-economy development, especially eco-tourism, eco-industry and eco-agriculture. Its aim is to be green and low-carbon. There are currently 10 provincial eco towns and counties.
