Hong Kong director Wong Kar-wai is producing a comedy to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his studio Jet Tone Films.

See You Tomorrow, with a cast starring Tony Leung and Takeshi Kaneshiro, revealed its backdrop stories in a recent Beijing event on Oct 23.

Adapted from author Zhang Jiajia's best-selling novella The Ferrymen, the film will open to Chinese theaters on Dec 23.

Zhang, also the director, said he was lucky to see his directorial debut under the guide from Wong, who is widely reckoned as a cinematic master.

Zhang recalled he's revised the script up to 118 times.

"It's a heartwarming story, which will make the audience laugh but also cry," said Wong.

Wong also says the first movie produced by Jet Tone, The Eagle Shooting Heroes, is a comedy, so he decided to make another comedy to mark the company's 25th anniversary. Despite the fact that most of his masterpieces, such as Chungking Express and Happy Together, are art-house titles.
