Hit daughter

An elderly man living alone in Nanjing was killed in front of his home on Sunday by a hit man hired online by his daughter, Modern Express claims. The daughter is allegedly suspected of hiring the hit man due to an economic dispute and harassment by her father. Further investigation is still underway.

One girl is outnumbered by 103 boys in one class in the department of mechanical engineering in Zhejiang University, demonstrating the traditional shortage of female students at sciences and engineering majors. Food search

People from Guangdong province have been revealed as the most quizzical about food, while people from Liaoning are the most food indifferent, according to a list by Chinese search engine Baidu. The list was the result of statistical analysis of food-related questions, totaling over 77 million, on Baidu Knows, an interactive knowledge-sharing platform. People from Guangdong, Shandong and Liaoning province came out as the top three for the number of questions they raised, while their Liaoning counterparts ranked bottom. (www.sohu.com)

Runaway jailed

A 21-year-old man in Yunnan province who ran away with a 14-year-old girl that he met when he worked in a factory in Shaowu, Fujian province, has been sentenced to three months detention for child abduction, Xinhua News Agency reported.
