Two foreign hikers were rescued by firefighters on May 12 after they became lost in a mountain in Beijing's Badaling area of the Great Wall.

The foreigners — a man from the United States and a woman from Spain — got lost at 11 pm on May 11 after taking part in a music festival. They had planned to tour a nearby mountain in the Badaling area in Changping district, the Beijing News reported.

Because they cannot speak Chinese, they had to phone a Chinese friend for help, who reported the case to a fire department in Changping.

At about 5 am on Sunday, firefighters found the foreigners and carried them down the mountain, reaching a safe area six hours later. The foreigners were exhausted but apparently uninjured, the report said.
