Tibet responds to Sichuan quake

The Tibet autonomous region took urgent action after the 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Lushan, Sichuan Province on Saturday. A contribution of more than 350,000 Yuan ($ 56,600) was donated by the staff of Tibet Fukang Hospital, and some 30 more paramedics were being sent to the earthquake-stricken area for rescue efforts, according to Wang Fashun, the council vice-president of the Tibet Red Cross said.

Reported by Tibet Daily, the Chengdu-based Tibet Autonomous Region Hospital responded rapidly after the devastating quake, rescuers and supplies were send to the sites swiftly, relief work team, and emergency relief medical team were set up in short while.

"For those who died in the earthquake to have a better next life, and those who survived the earthquake walk well, us monks prayed every afternoons spontaneously, and our temple made a contribution of 500,000 yuan", said Jambey Sengge, deputy director of Lhasa's Jokhang Temple Standing Committee.
