(Xinhua) Updated: 2014-09-06 15:10

BEIJING - Combined trade volume of major wholesale markets in China increased 6.7 percent year on year to 9.9 trillion yuan ($1.6 trillion) in 2013, new data has showed.

The number of the markets, however, dropped to 5,089, Zhang Zhigang, president of the China General Chamber of Commerce, said on Friday during a press conference for the third China Marketing Forum.

The calculation was collected from markets with total volume more than 100 million yuan a year.

Zhang spotlighted achievements in China's recent achievements in the tertiary sector and predicted the sector's added value will account for 47 percent of the GDP by the end of this year, up from 46.1 percent in 2013.

The forum will be held in Jimo city, East China's Shandong province, from October 29 to 31.
