China cuts its holding of US treasuries in April

WASHINGTON- China, the top buyer of US Treasury securities, cut its holding in April, the latest data from the US Treasury Department showed on Wednesday.

China reduced its holding of the treasuries by $1.8 billion to $1.2428 trillion in April. The country has cut its holding for two consecutive months by April.

Japan, the second largest foreign holder of US treasuries, increased its holding by $5.7 billion to $1.1428 trillion in April.

In April, overall foreign holdings of US Treasury securities dropped to $6.2385 trillion from $6.287 trillion in March.
