Chinese search engine company Baidu Inc officially launched its Portuguese language search engine in Brazil on Thursday.

The launch marks greater cooperation in innovation between the two BRICS countries and was part of 32 bilateral agreements signed by China and Brazil during China's President Xi Jinping official visit to Brazil.

Beijing-based Baidu also signed a strategic agreement with Brazil's Ministry of Science and Technology to jointly develop Internet technology in Brazil.

Baidu will offer tailor-made solutions to facilitate Brazil's Internet innovation and also build a technology innovation center in Brazil to help cultivate local talent and start-up companies.
