How mountainous villages in China climbed out of poverty

Shen Aimiao is a resident of Xin'an village, Lucheng district of Changzhi. Her family of five lived off a 0.6 hectares of farmland.

Since 2015 the family has received assistance from the government. In 2016 Shen Aimiao's son opened a hairdresser's in the village, helping to raise Shen's family above the poverty line in 2018.
