Should age always equal respect and obedience?

I was taught respect and raised not to talk back to older people.

If it's just a conversation between two persons I think it’s okay for the young to disagree with the elder or point out a mistake.

But if there are many people at present, it's not appropriate for the young to accuse elder people of being wrong, because it may make them lose face and feel embarrassed.

The young can tell the elder that they were wrong afterwards.

Should age always equal respect and obedience?
