How long does it take to drink 5 million liters of beer? At the Kempinski Beijing, they figure about 23 years and 16 days. That's how long the capital's oldest international hotel will have been around on June 13, the day Austrian brewmaster Wolfgang Sesser calculates the 5 millionth liter will be poured at the Paulaner pub. A good reason to say "Prost!"

Joey Sergentakis takes on the role as head chef for Mr & Mrs Fox, Swire Restaurants' newest stand-alone restaurant being readied to open in August. Previously chef de cuisine at Cafe Gray Deluxe, Sergentakis has also worked in top New York and European fine-dining rooms. Mr & Mrs Fox, a modern steakhouse and neighborhood hangout, will occupy three floors in the recently launched Taikoo Place Apartments with a craft beerhouse at street level, raw bar and steakhouse on the first floor and private dining room with its own terrace in the attic.

Keeping tradition

Langham Hospitality Group's just-announced plans for a new luxury hotel in Hefei, Anhui province, will include two of the luxe chain's trademarks: a Palm Court with the hotel's signature afternoon teas, and a T'ang Court restaurant, which will offer "authentic Cantonese culinary masterpieces" reminiscent of its two Michelin-starred namesake at The Langham, Hong Kong.
