A typical matchmaking event run by Fan is very well organized.

Love me, forget me, please

"I invite 100 people, 50 boys and 50 girls, to gather at a square near my house. I pair them in my notebook, so when everyone is there, I call out their names, and they can step forward and be introduced."

That's just the first step. Fan carefully follows up on each introduction to make sure the relationship is going smoothly.

She has attracted quite a following, mostly parents who want to find spouses for their children. Fan is already a grandmother, and her son found his match in university.

In 2012, she decided to register her matchmaking studio as a non-profit organization. To eliminate potential frauds or cheats who may take advantage of young women, all those who participate at her events must show her a single status certificate issued by the Civil Affairs Bureau, identity card, registered permanent residence certificate or hukou booklet, their education certificates and employee's card.

Fan hopes she can write a book one day on the matches she has made to share these stories with young men and women, and show them how to choose a mate when they are confused or hesitant.
