China's prominent performing artist Ge Cunzhuang dies at 87

Actor Ge Cunzhuang has died at the age of 87. He passed away this morning.

Starting his acting career in 1949, he is well-known for his roles in 'Red Flag,' 'Little Soldier Zhang Ga,' and 'From Victory To Victory.'

He won the best supporting actor award at China's Golden Rooster Awards in 1998, for his performance in 'Great Friend–Zhou Enlai,' in which he portrayed famous painter Qi Baishi.

He is the father of award-winning actor Ge You, who is famous for his major comedy roles.

Several of Ge Cunzhuang's friends and former cast mates, including Xie Fang, Liu Xiaoqing and Qin Weidong, have already shared their condolences on social media channels.
