For a couple of weeks every summer, I "go feral". I "become a Sasquatch". I literally answer the call of the wild.

They say language divides, but human emotions can breach barriers where language fails. We must also not forget, as George Bernard Shaw once said, that England and America are two countries divided by a common language.

I was offered a job at China Daily back in March, while I was working in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The benefits seemed better than what my current job offered at the time, and I really liked the idea that I would be closer to my daughter, who lives in Malaysia. I also relished getting back into journalism, a business that I had left behind a few years ago to teach English as a second language overseas.
