By Liu Mingtai and Han Junhong | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2017-06-11 10:52

The old Nanhu Bridge in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin province, is being demolished by explosives on June 11, 2017. It took just 3.5 seconds for the bridge to come down after explosives were detonated at 4:13 am on Sunday. It will be replaced by a new bridge spanning 150 meters long. It will be 26 m wide, allowing 16 m for cars to pass and a 5-m-wide path for pedestrians on each side. The new bridge is expected to open to traffic at the end of Sept and is designed to last for 100 years. [Video by Wan Jigang/chinadaily.com.cn]
