Tourism changes cliff village life for the better

Mose Fu climbs a newly-built steel ladder with other villagers to go home to Atuleer, a village that lies atop a cliff more than 1,400 meters above sea level, in Zhaojue county, Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture, Southwest China's Sichuan province, on Feb 3, 2017. The village gained public attention for relying on an 800-meter zigzag network of rattan ladders that had no railings, which was the village's only link to the outside world. Photos of pupils climbing up the cliff on the rattan ladders sparked public outcry and prompted local officials to address the issue. [Photo/VCG]
