Policemen injured in NE China restaurant blast

HARBIN - The explosion that injured two policemen at a fast food restaurant in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province is suspected to have been a deliberate act, local authorities said.

The incident happened at 9:34 am at a Dicos restaurant in Anda City under Suihua City. Two policemen were slightly injured by the blast.

The injured, who both sustained multiple burns during the blast, are being treated at the Harbin No.5 Hospital in Harbin, capital city of Heilongjiang. Doctors at the hospital told Xinhua that they are currently in stable conditions.

Sheng Wei, head of the public security bureau of Suihua City, said that around 9:30 am, police in Anda City received an anonymous phone call claiming that there would be an explosion within about five minutes in the restaurant.

Police rushed to the scene to evacuate people. The explosion occurred during the evacuation and the two policemen were injured, Sheng said.

The incident is under investigation.
