2 dead, 26 rescued in raft capsizing

NANNING - Two tourists were killed and 26 others rescued on Saturday morning in a raft accident in Yangshuo county, in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, said local authorities.

At about 6 am Saturday, a raft overturned on the Lijiang River in Yangshuo, a renowned resort with natural views on the river and mountains, said the press office of the county government.

Twenty-seven tourists and one sculler were aboard the raft when the accident occurred.

Local government sent rescuers soon after the accident and rescued 26 people.

Investigations into the accident are under way.
