China's quality watchdog will focus its crackdown efforts this year on counterfeit products in areas including children's products, food and cell phone products, a spokesman said on Monday.

Chen Xitong, spokesman for the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, said in a news conference that the authority will launch special crackdown campaigns on consumer goods.

The authority will focus on such children's products as electronic toys, strollers, infant car seats, feeding bottles and paper diapers. It will target companies that produce products that fail to meet mandatory standards.

The authority also will target companies that produce food containers with recycled materials and cell phone products that fail to meet national standards.
