In the past, sex education in China wasn't a part of people's lives, and it's gone through many changes.

In the early 1950s, little attention was paid to sex education. But the government encouraged educators to improve children's knowledge.

In the 80s, Beijing National Day School was the first middle school to teach simple sex education. At the time, it only covered anatomy.

Public pressure for further sex education increased in the 1990s as a response to the spread of AIDS around the globe.

In 2008, the Chinese government officially confirmed the necessity of sex education.

More recently, in September 2011, Tsinghua University started providing free condoms on campus.
