Jennifer Lawrence: Cousin

Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is nicknamed "Cousin", or 表姐 (biao jie).

Chinese Internet users joked about hearing the list of winners during the run-ups to the Academy Awards in 2011, all claiming they heard the results from a "cousin in the Academy."

It was a mockery against the desperation of some Chinese people who always want to brag about having powerful family members.

But then, one Chinese netizen stepped up and claimed that Lawrence was his cousin and that she had won the Best Actress award.

Lawrence didn't win, but her name stuck.

Most Chinese fans say the name "Cousin" really suits the Hunger Games actress, since she has an easy-to-approach persona.
