Peng Xiandong, general manager of consumer electronics department of China Market Monitor Co Ltd, a market research company specializing in home appliances, said it is an irreversible trend that an increasing number of consumers are using mobile terminals rather than sitting in the living room and watching TV.

What is working is to embrace the trend by providing a bridge to channel what is on the mobile phones or iPads back to the TV screen. The link between mobile phones and TV is where the future lies, said Peng.

More than half of the ultra-high-resolution TVs sold worldwide are made in China, according to the South Korean newspaper Aju Business Daily, which cited a report by DisplaySearch, a research firm that focuses on the display supply chain.

The Chinese market and brands continue to grow rapidly and have become driving forces of 4K TVs in particular, the report found. TVs with 4K resolution have a definition that is four times higher than standard high-definition TVs.

Six major Chinese brands accounted for 51.8 percent of the market for ultra-high-definition TV sales in the first quarter, according to the report.

The six were Hisense Co Ltd, Hong Kong Skyworth Digital Holdings Co Ltd, Konka Group Co Ltd, TCL Corp, Sichuan Changhong Electric Co Ltd and Haier Electronics Group Co Ltd,

Since the third quarter of 2013, Chinese TV brands have maintained a consistent global market share exceeding 50 percent.
