The first duty-free shop in Wuhan, the capital of Central China's Hubei province, has been packed with shoppers in recent days who wanted to grab imported products at cheaper rates during the New Year holiday.

Enthusiastic consumers snapped up products like cosmetics, fruits, milk powder and snacks, promoting a sudden spike in sales figures.

The East Lake Comprehensive Bonded Zone in Wuhan opened to the public on Dec 25, 2014, and offers over 6,000 types of imported products ranging from wine, maternal and infant supplies, fresh foodstuff to luxury items from 33 countries and regions.
