Nissan to recall 3,782 vehicles over accelerator defect

Xinhua | Updated: 2013-09-27 09:26

BEIJING -- Japanese car maker Nissan Motor Company (China) is to recall 3,782 vehicles due to defective accelerator sensors, China's consumer quality watchdog said on Thursday.

The recall will cover imported Fuga and Infiniti M35 models manufactured between Nov 8, 2004 and May 12, 2010, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine said in a statement.

Due to defective design, the accelerator pedal's sensor could become unstable, potentially resulting in less-than-intended acceleration and in the worst case, a stalled engine, according to the statement.

Authorized Nissan dealers in China will contact affected customers and replace the faulty parts for free. Owners of the vehicles can also contact authorized dealers for free maintenance.
