Students set off from quake-hit townships to resume classes in Lhasa
Following the magnitude-7 earthquake on Oct 22 in the Xizang autonomous region, 589 students and teachers from two affected townships in Drachen county set off for Lhasa to resume classes.
The students, from fifth and sixth grades in the two hardest-hit townships, Maru and Gangchen, will continue their studies at Nagchu Wanquan Middle School in Lhasa.
A total of 22 specially arranged vehicles transported the students in batches under closed-loop management to ensure their safety throughout the journey.
Local authorities completed preparations, including student information registration, communication with parents, safety inspections, teacher arrangements, and logistical support, before departure.
Local traffic police deployed personnel at key road sections and nodes to ensure smooth and safe transportation.
