Ziquejie Consensus 2026 on agricultural heritage protection presented at Hunan conference

China, Japan, and South Korea reached a consensus on agricultural heritage protection at an international conference that opened on Sunday in Loudi, Hunan province.

During the opening ceremony of the 2026 From Ziquejie Terraces to the World event, delegates from the three countries presented the Ziquejie Consensus (2026). The document focuses on the integrated development of agriculture, culture, and tourism at Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) sites, outlining shared commitments in ecological protection, cultural preservation, industry upgrading, digital empowerment, youth engagement, and cross-cultural exchange.

The two-day event, which ran alongside a pair of industry conferences, gathered approximately 300 agricultural experts, government officials, and civil society and business representatives from China and abroad.
