The solo exhibition Vitality and Love by contemporary artist Cynthia Zhang was held at the Sundial Art Space in Shanghai's Peace Hotel from June 15 to 26, showcasing a series of the artist's recent abstract paintings centered on the theme of vitality and exploring life's enduring cycle.
The series of 17 works examined four interconnected dimensions — creation, flow, connection and return — portraying life as a continuous process of renewal and transformation. Against the backdrop of today's fast-paced society, the exhibition invited visitors to refocus on life itself and reflect on the profound connections between human, nature and the wider world.
Following the exhibition, Tears of Love, one of the featured paintings, was added to the Sundial Art Space's permanent collection. Through abstract expression, this artwork captures the movement and evolution of life's energy, using layered colors, rich textures and expressive brushstrokes to create an open, immersive visual world that invites reflection.
The art center's management said it hopes that, by continuing to expand its collection and stage regular exhibitions, the century-old building will become more than a popular city landmark, serving as a cultural space where the public can deepen its appreciation of art.
The center keeps part of its exhibition space open to the public free of charge and regularly organizes guided tours and educational programs, with a particular focus on engaging young people with art.
