Li Ruoheng's Metropolis series of paintings renders a similar perspective of flying at night over cities. She has introduced pearls and black velvet cloth in work to re-create the sparkle of city lights, by which she makes a metaphor of the radiance of human civilization.

Li's works depicting beautiful, mystic metropolitan night scenes around the world are on show at her ongoing exhibition, The Radiant Metropolis, inside Beijing's 798 art zone.
