State Council supervising probe into fatal accident in Heilongjiang
In response to a series of recent accidents in Heilongjiang province, the State Council Work Safety Commission has taken measures, according to China Central Television.
Following the gas explosion that killed 11 at a coal mine in Shuangyashan city on Nov 28 and the transportation accident, killed 12 at another coal mine in Jixi city on Dec 20, the commission interviewed with the Heilongjiang government on Monday.
The commission has decided to supervise the investigation of the transportation accident.
During the interview, the commission said that this year, 20 accidents were reported in the province, with concerns raised about misinformation and concealment.
The commission urged the province to intensify inspections of transportation and regulate the number of personnel entering mines according to stipulations.
It urged the province to increase supervision in hazardous chemical areas and enhance safety management in the production, transportation, storage and use of fireworks.
In the transportation sector, preventive measures against adverse weather conditions are needed to prevent accidents.
