Various theater, fine art and TV productions featuring folklore about the beginning of Chinese civilization are being presented in Shanghai from November to January.

The municipality kicked off this project in 2015, when it called on music, visual art and theater institutions in the city to create new productions featuring the beginning of Chinese civilization.

A total of 172 artworks have been created since then.

New books, including academic research papers and a new collection on Chinese folklore, as well as painting collections of legendary Chinese heroes, have been published too.

An exhibition featuring 76 artworks bearing the same theme started at the China Art Museum Shanghai on Dec 3 and will run till Jan 8. Twelve theater and concert productions by eight companies are also being shown from Nov 27 to Dec 31.

From Dec 3 to Jan 5, local TV and radio channels will present six cartoon series, three cartoon movies and storytelling shows.
