The most attractive attractive part of the experience at the Mandarin Oriental Pudong is sitting in one of the spacious bathtubs -- filled with a refreshing, fragrant, amber-colored “soup” brimming with rose petals and other flowers.

The SpAroma Summer Body Ritual was specially created for the hot summer season. It begins by having patrons luxuriate in a bath as it whets their appetite for more to follow.

The “main courses” include a 30-minute body scrub and hour-long detox massage using grapefruit, rosemary and juniper oil. Dessert is whatever you care to dream up as you lay back and let yourself be pampered. My choice was the Moroccan herb garden tingling with the scent of rosemary and juniper berries.

The hotel also provides a number of takeaway options. These come in the form of its Aromatherapy Associates Beauty Pack with Revive Morning Bath & Shower Oil (55ml), Revive Body Gel (40ml), or Mini Revive Evening Bath & Shower Oil.

The full package costs 2,190 yuan, and is available until the end of August.
