Goulart leads Evergrande past Western Sydney

At Beijing Workers' Stadium, Dejan Damjanovic scored midway through the second half as Chinese qualifiers Beijing Guoan stayed undefeated in Group G with a 1-0 win over South Korean side Suwon Bluewings.

In Tashkent, Uzbek club Lokomotiv claimed its first point in the tournament after a 1-1 draw with Iranian champion Foolad Khouzestan.

Oleg Zoteev scored in the seventh minute for tournament debutante Lokomotiv but Mehrdad Jamaati equalized for the visitors 12 minutes before halftime.

In another Group C match at Doha, Qatar, former champion Al Sadd beat 2014 runners-up Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia 1-0 to move to the top of the group.

Al Sadd veteran Khalfan Ibrahim scored the game's only goal in the 30th minute with a powerful finish after being played through by striker Hasan Al Haydos.

"The result is important for us and we are now going in the right direction - the road is still long but winning against the runners-up of last year will give us a big boost," Al Sadd coach Lhoussaine Ammouta said.

At Jeddah, Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli beat Nasaf Qarshi of Uzbekistan 2-1 to move to the top of Group D.

Second-half substitute Saleh Al Amari scored the winner in the 78th minute. Omar Al Soma's 20th-minute goal gave Al-Ahli the lead before Nasaf captain Artur Gevorkyan's free kick equalized on the hour mark.

In another Group D game, a goal by forward Farshad Amhadzadeh five minutes before halftime gave Tractor Sazi of Iran a 1-0 home win over Al Ahli of the United Arab Emirates.
