Is mahjong gaining popularity worldwide?

I always found it amusing in summer when old mahjong addicts are littered all over the sidewalks in China. That game is probably one part of China I will never learn to enjoy. But then I'm pretty much uninterested in all kinds of gaming.

Is <EM>mahjong</EM> gaining popularity worldwide?
