Should single women be allowed to have kids?

Not all married couples make good parents. Equally being raised by a single parent, who may be single through divorce or death of a spouse, does not automatically mean they are deficient in any way. The problem is when the child is an 'accessory' to family life, rather than a planned/supported individual. How many married couples are poorly prepared for parenthood, yet having a child is the expected norm?
