If I had one wish

By eddieturkson Updated: 2015-01-09 17:24

We all make wishes, some are realistic, some unrealistic. There are so many occasions or celebrations when we make wishes. This new year 2015, most of us made wishes as we said or thought of our new year’s resolutions. To use a cliché known to most of us, “If wishes were horses, beggars would ride”. This proverb simply means it is useless to make wishes, but as humans, we can’t stop making wishes. Growing up, we have all made wishes and continue to make wishes. Another saying that easily knocks off the proverb above is what makes some of us continue to make wishes, “be careful what you wish for, it might just come true”.

All I need is just one wish, but if you don’t know, like narcotics, wishes are also addictive, I can’t but wish for more wishes. The rule with wishes is, you are not allowed to wish that all your wishes come true. In the world of wonderland, it is forbidden to make such a wish because there won’t be any more wishes for all the characters in the fairy tales. If you had one wish what would it be?

If I had one wish, I would wish to see and predict the future. I would try to save the entire world from future tragedies and catastrophes. I would try to contribute to a better world using my ability. I would do all I could to make our world a better place.

If I had one wish, I would wish to be a time traveler. I would travel back in time to change the course of history. I would try to prevent all the major disasters that have left families and countries torn apart. I would travel into the future and bring back innovations needed in the present. I would bring back cures and medication for all the diseases plaguing our planet.

If I had one wish, I would wish for global peace in our time. I would wish for an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I would wish that all religious extremists rescind their extremist ideas. I would wish for peace in all conflict-stricken parts of our planet.

If I had one wish, I would wish for the rich to share their wealth with the poor. I would wish that the strong share their strength with the weak. I would wish that there weren’t distinctions between first, second and third class citizens in any nation. I would wish that there was no hunger on earth. I would wish for prosperity for all of mankind.

If I had one wish, I would wish that we all spoke one language (sorry, English teachers in China). I would wish that all barriers that lead to conflict of interest among nations would be broken. I would wish that all knowledge, information and all technology would be shared among all countries.

If I had one wish, I would wish that the Diaoyu Islands never existed or vanish into thin air. I would wish that slavery of the black race never occurred. I would wish that the First and Second World Wars never happened. That means all the crimes against humanity, the Holocaust and the Nanjing massacre, would never have happened.

If I had one wish, I would wish for good health, strength and prosperity for my enemies. I would wish for them to accept me for who I am. I would wish for more blessings for them. I would wish that they be cleansed from the hate that blocks their blessings from manifesting. I would wish them success in all their endeavors.

To end with another proverb, “If wishes were fishes, we’d all cast our net”. we’d all be fishermen. What would you wish for if you were granted just one wish? Would you wish for prosperity or for the betterment of our world?
