Is it easy to get along with your Chinese in-laws?

In North America especially (the US and Canada) parents tend to stay out of the way of their children's relationships. They are more likely to stand back and not interfere, nor have any strong desire to participate in upbringing of their grandchildren.

But I'm not saying that's a good thing. Family has lost its importance in our countries for the new generations and I think that's greatly to our loss. I'd rather have an interfering mother-in-law who loved and cared for my children, than one who would prefer not to be involved regardless of how they grow up.
