Self-deceptive games of Japanese politicians

(chinadaily.com.cn) Updated: 2012-09-17 18:44

Japanese politicians seem confident with their "nationalization" of China's Diaoyu Islands. But the grounds supporting their confidence are so weak and self-deceptive that they are actually seeking humiliation if they move the wrong way further.

They are underestimating Chinese people's resolve and ability to protect their country's sovereignty. China is no longer the same country that was invaded and bullied by foreign powers 100 years ago. In contrast, Chinese people will try their best to prevent a historical tragedy from happening again.

Japanese politicians do not realize that they are strangling themselves step by step, at a time when China has enough ability, reasons, space and ways to fight back and expose the nature of the Japanese politicians' ugly actions. They started the farce but cannot end it.

History proves that the Unites States is "a paper tiger" when it comes to defending its allies. The Chinese people's determination to defend their land and safeguard national sovereignty is unshakable, no matter who stands in their way.

Japan's actions remind its Asian neighbors of its warmongering past, blind arrogance and irresponsibility. Japan is losing its credit and ruining its international image again.

The Japanese government is playing a joke on itself. The looming trade war between China and Japan will necessarily leave more scars on the Japanese side than on China.

Japan should take responsibility for all the consequences of the issue. Coming back to the negotiation table is the only choice now to reduce the costs of its behavior.
