According to Pingnan county’s international business and economics department, the Fujian province county has almost finished preparatory work for the upcoming China International Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT), with plans for two projects at this year’s CIFIT -- a mountain vegetable base project and a vegetable deep processing project.

The local Party committee and government see investment as a key force for economic development so they have tried to promote industrial parks, township industrial zones and agricultural parks. They have also sent delegations to large investment activities and project matchmakings.

Pingnan has already signed agreements on five foreign-funded projects, with total investment worth $43 million, and is doing everything possible to begin construction work as soon as possible, with the Party and government helping deal with any problems enterprises face in the process and work on three of them already underway. It has also signed a State-backed project, costing 380 million yuan ($61.6 million), and five projects supported by private enterprises, expected to cost 1.1 billion yuan. Work on four of them has started.
