Guo Yunwei heads an agricultural technology company and has lived in Pingnan for five years, growing tea-oil trees and also cherry trees.
In 2008, he leased a mountainous area covering 66.67 hectares for 30 years and now has three million tea-oil trees that are set to bring him a handsome profit.
Guo is successful partly due to the local program concerning the use of the mountainous areas to develop cyclical eco-agriculture projects.
[The county has deep processed agricultural products, such as cherries, nuts and poultry, to increase their value added. Now it has seen such sectors as high-altitude vegetables, fungus, bamboo products and raising livestock grow at a fast pace.
The county authorities have also pooled funds to increase forestation in order to support the development of eco-industries.
