Pingnan county, in Fujian province, has set a target to attract 1.6 million tourists this year, after more than 100,000 visitors travelled here in the first four months, said its tourism authorities.

Boasting the famous Baishuiyang 5A scenic spot, the county will release guidelines on accelerating the development of the tourism industry and focus on developing ecotourism. The launch of the Ningde-Wuyishan expressway, together with the high-speed railways connecting the region with the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta, will further facilitate the implementation of that strategy.

The county will also improve online information services, organize sports and cultural activities, and provide better accommodation services to build up the brand of Baishuiyang and attract more tourists. It will also cooperate with the provincial tourism branding platform to attract tourists from Taiwan and Hong Kong.
