The Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo, to be held in Dunhuang, Gansu province, next August, originated from the Silk Road Economic Belt Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping during his visit to Kazakhstan in September 2013.
In mid-October, the Gansu provincial government hosted a preparatory meeting in Dunhuang, Gansu province, for the summit conference of the first Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo, scheduled for mid-August 2016.
The fourth International Cultural Industry Conference and the eighth Gansu Cultural Expo concurrently opened in Dunhuang on Oct 14.
The host city of the Silk Road International Cultural Expo next August, Dunhuang is located at the western end of the Hexi Corridor and has a long history of civilization.
