Deputy district chief suspected of committing crimes

Wang Jun, a member of Shanghai's Songjiang district Communist Party of China standing committee and deputy head of the district, has been transferred to the judiciary on suspicion of crimes, the city's commission for discipline inspection said on Monday.

The discipline watchdog said his behavior constituted serious discipline violations, and possibly crimes.

Wang, a 53-year-old native of Jiaxing city, Zhejiang province, has been expelled from Party, and the watchdog has also applied to the municipal government for approval of an administrative sanction of expulsion.

Wang held the position of deputy district head since December 2006 and was mainly in charge of district work in the areas of development and reform, State-owned assets supervision and administration, finances, statistics and taxation, according to the official website of the district government.
