Posh shares fashion experiences in Beijing

Former Spice Girls singer Victoria Beckham showed up at Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology on Monday, sharing her experiences in fashion design with young students in the industry.

Vogue China's editorial director Angelica Cheung hosted the seminar. She started the event by asking Beckham whether she would feel confident as a designer without professional training.

"I wear a lot, and I design what I wear. I am very focused and passionate, and I work really hard," Beckham said.

She also said her husband, David Beckham, supports her work whole-heartedly.

"We have been together for 16 years and married for 14 years...it's a long time...He is kind, generous...He is not perfect, but wonderful. He always supports me to fulfill my dreams in working," the fashion icon said.

This was Beckham's second visit to Beijing. She is collaborating with some local brands, meeting clients and finding new opportunities in the city.

Although the fashion world looks glamorous, Beckham said there are also huge challenges and difficulties.

It is not about fashion design; it is more about running a business. "I am not working for a brand called Victoria Beckham. I own the brand. It is my business, and I need to consider every part of the business," she said.

Last year, she introduced her collection of slim silhouettes to Beijing fashionistas, including razor-sharp dresses and corsets, jackets with functional pockets and zipper details, and short skirts in a sporty style.

Beckham said she wants to grow her brand, with many more lines, like shoes, cosmetics and perfume. But she will not do that until she finds the right experts in each area.

"I don't want to run before I walk, and now I am only doing a baby-walk," she said.

The designer said Beijing is definitely a destination for her, and she hopes to open boutiques here as soon as possible.
