Oil tank blast causes casualties in NE China

DALIAN - At least two people were injured and two others have been reported missing following oil residue tank blasts on Sunday in Northeast China's Liaoning povince, firefighters said.

Two tanks containing residual diesel oil exploded around 2:20 pm at a PetroChina outlet in the city of Dalian, triggering a fire, firefighters with the city said.

The injured were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Dozens of fire trucks were mobilized and the fire was put out by 4 pm Rescuers are searching the area for casualties.

The cause of the blast is under investigation.
