Dog sniffs out a bag of heroin in Guangzhou

By Li Wenfang in Guangzhou | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2013-01-28 18:06

A drug detection dog sniffed out an air parcel with 1.48 kilograms of heroin, according to Guangzhou Customs.

It is the largest amount of heroin that has ever been detected by a dog at customs, said customs in a statement on Jan 28.

The parcel, containing a steel pipe and plastic parts, came from a country in Southeast Asia.

Though without naming that country, custom officers said they have found several parcels containing drugs that were mailed from that country.

Guangzhou Customs said that with the help from drug detection dogs, they have discovered 29.6 kilograms of drugs in 38 cases.
