2,000 fake luxury watches seized in Shenzhen

Shenzhen customs officers seized 2,280 counterfeit luxury watches from two African passengers on Thursday at Huanggang Port.

The passengers were planning to sell the watches in African countries.

Officers said they found the watches in the luggage of the two passengers, who were taking separate buses from Shenzhen to Hong Kong.

The watches were packed in plastic bags and hidden under clothes in suitcases. Marked with luxury brand logos, they can easily be distinguished from authentic ones by rough packaging and poor workmanship, the officers said.

The fake watches infringed the intellectual property rights of nine brands. They have been confiscated and the investigation is continuing.
