DFM is experiencing rapid development

Donefeng Motor saw a 15 percent increase in car sales in 2013, and the company has set its sales target at 3.8 million vehicles for 2014.

It sold 3.5 million vehicles in 2013, making the company the second-biggest player in the automobile industry. The annual sales in 2013 saw year-on-year rise of 14.8 percent, which was higher than the industry's average. The market share was 16 percent, while the income from marketing was 453.4 billion yuan ($75 billion), which climbed 24.4 percent year-on-year in 2013. The total tax payment saw a 12.1 percent increase to 40.6 billion yuan.

In 2013, the total fiscal revenue reached 453.36 billion yuan, up 24.4 percent year-on-year, which was a record high. It sold 2.9 million passenger cars, an increase of 18.2 percent, and the growth was higher than the industry's average. The sales of commercial vehicles reached 633,000 units, exceeding last year's figure.

To meet the goal of selling 3.8 million vehicles in 2014, Dongfeng plans to carry out some major changes.

Own brand

Dongfeng sold 1.27 million cars under its own brand in 2013, up 13.4 percent year-on-year, and the growth was 3.2 percentage points higher than the industry's level.

During Shanghai Auto Show in 2013, Dongfeng's self-owned brand passenger car almost covered mid-class auto market in each segment.

It sold 655,600 passengers cars of its own brand, an increase of 27.3 percent year-on-year, which was higher than the industry's average. Fengshen sold 80,000 vehicles, an increase of 33 percent; Fengxing sold 180,000 vehicles, up 32 percent; and Fengdu sold 32,000 vehicles, up 24 percent. Venucia, a sub-brand of Dongfeng, sold 100,000 vehicles, a jump of more than one and a half times year-on-year.

Dongfeng has risen from the fourth position to third in self-owned passenger car brands. Its heavy commercial vehicles, meanwhile, have moved to number one position in that particular category. The sales volume of Donfeng's own brand car in commercial vehicles reached 615,500, up 1.6 percent year-on-year.
