BEIJING - Boeing was endeavoring to expand its investment and sales in China, a fast-growing market for the commercial jetliner manufacturer, with its delivery in China expected to set a record this year.

"Boeing's strategy in China will serve China's national strategy as well as the demand from Chinese customers. We not only sell aircraft in China, but we also support the future development of safety and efficiency in China's aviation industry," said Ian Thomas, president of Boeing China.

The US company's investment in China includes technology, research, training, manufacturing and after-sale services, and its total investment surpassed $800 million so far this year, Thomas told reporters during a recent briefing.

Boeing's delivery in China is forecast to set a record high this year, with the total number reaching 150 to 160. Major Chinese carriers including Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines received their newly-ordered Boeing aircraft earlier this year, he said.

Boeing delivered 143 aircraft to Chinese carriers in 2013, a robust growth of 60 percent year on year.
