山寨社团(shān zhài shè tuán): Fake social organizations

(China Daily) Updated: 2016-06-08 09:04

The Ministry of Civil Affairs released the names of 137 unqualified social organizations recently.

Although they appear to be important and nationwide social organizations with strong influence in their fields, these pseudo-social organizations are not legally registered with the Civil Affairs administration. Many of the fake social organizations are in the field of culture and arts, and the majority of them use "China" or "National" in their names.

These fake social organizations take advantage of the public's trust in their names to illegally accumulate wealth. Once individuals and enterprises are deceived, it is difficult for them to safeguard their rights and interests.

According to the ministry, it has found 664 such fake social organizations nationwide, and it has posted a list of these pseudo-social organizations on the internet.

The ministry is encouraging the public to provide information on pseudo-social organizations, and says it will constantly update the list as eliminating them is conducive to building a healthy society.
